St Andrews Water Tower
Twenty years ago, we were approached by Andreas Haun and John and Lucinda Flemer who asked us to transform the St. Andrews water reservoir from an eyesore into a work of art. If you love owls...
Owls are unique looking birds with large eyes, flat faces, sharp beaks and powerful talons. Some owls have what appear to be big ears at the tops of their heads. These are in fact tufty "show off" feathers known as plumicorns. Owl ears are actually located on the sides of their heads with one situated slightly higher than the other one. This placement of the ears helps them to pinpoint where sounds are coming from, giving them an advantage over their prey. Goats and... coffee?
Think goats have nothing to do with coffee? Think again. According to legend, in the year 850 A.D., an East African goat herder named Kaldi, began noticing that his goats became rather excited after chewing on the berries of a certain plant... a coffee shrub.
